First, let me say that I agree with Harry Potter Hogwarts was not hiring so I heal Muggles instead shirt, however, I am appalled by the subtext–our representation of the teacher. I know there are some bad apples, but as a teacher, my profession is under attack at so many levels. we are disparaged, underfunded, and even attacked now by national programming. Where I live, public school teachers cannot afford to live in the same communities as the students they serve. The only reason they teach is that someone in their family supports their passion to help bring up children to be effective and productive citizens. Let’s do what we can to push and keep well qualified and well-meaning teachers into the profession. There are enough negative stereotypes out there. Let’s invest in education instead of jails. If we do that then teachers can educate the children and teach them how to become productive citizens. Then we won’t need to lock them up.
